Connecting Voice Services

Note: Adding Amazon Alexa to SmartThings will enable it for all locations under your account.

  1. From the Home Screen, tap Add (+) and select Voice Assistant

  2. Select Amazon Alexa. You will automatically be directed to the Amazon App.

  3. Tap Enable to use for SmartThings

  4. Choose Authorize. Once authorized, the following message appears: “Alexa has been successfully linked with SmartThings.”

  5. Tap X to close the window and begin device discovery.

Removing Voice Services In the event your voice assistant is no longer working as expected or is no longer needed, you can remove Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa using the steps below.

  1. From the Home Screen, tap the Menu (☰)

  2. Select Settings

  3. Choose Linked services

  4. Tap Alexa

  5. Choose Uninstall

  6. Tap Delete

  7. Confirm removal

Ensure that Alexa is working in the Amazon Alexa app. If it is, remove Alexa from your Linked Services in the SmartThings app’s settings before re-adding.
